It was released on May 20, 2016 via Republic Records. The album was originally titled Moonlight, but was later changed after Grande said that Dangerous Woman was a better representation of where she was. The first single was originally “Focus,” which was released on October 30, 2015 and debuted at No. 7 on the Hot 100. However, the track was turned into a Japanese-exclusive bonus track and “Dangerous Woman” became the new lead single. “Dangerous Woman” debuted in the top ten, making Ariana the first person to have top-ten debuting lead singles in her first three albums. On February 22, 2016, Ariana announced the album’s title. Prior to this, fans thought the album would be called Moonlight, but that became the name of the first track. Regarding the title, Ariana said: “‘Moonlight’ is a lovely song, and it’s a lovely title. It’s really romantic, and it definitely ties together the old music and the new music, but ‘Dangerous Woman’ is a lot stronger. … To me, a dangerous woman is someone who’s not afraid to take a stand, be herself and to be honest.” On March 11, 2016, Ari released the album’s title track and lead single, “Dangerous Woman”. On May 6, 2016, she released the album’s second single, “Into You”. The roll-out for this album was pretty unique; On May 13, 2016, Ariana announced that she would release a new song everyday until the album released. The songs she released (in order) were “Everyday”, “Greedy”, “Side to Side”, “Sometimes”, “Leave Me Lonely”, “Touch It”, and “Bad Decisions”. O ile na „Yours Truly” i „My Everything” Grande ewidetnie poszukiwała swojego brzmienia i wrzucała do muzycznego kociołka wszystkiego po trochu, tak na “Dangerous Woman” wyraźnie słychać, że znalazła już swoją drogę. Piosenki na "Dangerous..." są o wiele bardziej jednorodne i w końcu składają się razem w miarę spójną całość. Na poprzednich płytach można było odnieść wrażenie, że młoda wokalistka przygotowała dość przypadkową składankę dobrze brzmiących kawałków trochę bez ładu i składu, z których niektóre wybijały się znacznie względem całej reszty. Teraz w końcu przyszła zmiana na lepsze. I choć na jej najnowszym krążku nie ma może tak wielkich hiciorów jak chociażby Love Me Harder, to i tak całościowo słucha się tego znacznie tytuł trzeciej płyty Grande jest trochę mylący. Możnaby się po nim spodziewać bardziej surowego brzmienia bądź ostrzejszych tekstów (tak tak to słyszeliśly na najnowszej płycie Beyonce). Tymczasem „Dangerous Woman” jest płytą rozrywkową i to pełną gębą. Mamy tu przebojowe, mocne popowe refreny produkowane przez Maxa Martina, jak np. Into You, który z pewnością będzie jednym z większych hitów nadchodzącego lata. Znalazło się też miejsce reggae (Side to Side), disco-funk (Greedy) oraz R&B (szczególnie słyszalne w Sometimes przywodzącym skojarzenia z wczesną Beyonce).Wszystko brzmi perfekcyjnie. Zarówno jeśli chodzi o jakość produkcji (nie ma się do czego przyczepić), kompozycje (pełna wersja krążka ma 15 kawałków i żaden się nie nudzi) oraz o fantastyczny głos Grande. Dojrzała już muzycznie na tyle, że całkiem sprawnie bawi się w udany i przyjemny w odsłuchu recykling sprawdzonych motywów, nadając im swoje delikatne piętno i trochę je unowocześniając. Nowy album Grande nie wyznacza nowych standardów w popie, ale też chyba nie jest na to jeszcze czas w przypadku zaledwie 23-letniej wokalistki. Na trzeciej płycie w końcu znalazła swoje brzmienie, nagrała jak dotąd swoje najlepsze muzycznie dokonanie i od tego punktu (miejmy nadzieję) zacznie bardziej eksperymentować. Ale to pieśn przyszłości. Obecnie zaserwowała fanom idealną płytę pop, pełną hitowych melodii, znakomicie wykonaną, w sam raz do potańczenia na klubowych parkietach jak i zwykłego odsłuchu.
